$1,500/ month for Female Longevity and a Kardashian Kameo
The all female clan profess their obsession with male longevity gurus. Is this relevant for us normal females?
What we’re examining this week:
The Kardashians hosted “Don’t Die” Bryan Johnson and “Don’t Age” Dr. Andrew Huberman on their show.
From the Lab to your Life: Female Injury Edition.
Turn yourself into a bionic Woman with a $1,500/ Month Budget.
Female Recovery Tools by Efficacy.
1. Kardashians x Male Longevity Gurus
I’m late to the party because I don’t watch the show but came across a clip in which Bryan Johnson told Kim K. that he doesn’t partake in anything outside of his regimen. He doesn’t drink, snack and he has his last meal at 11… AM, to improve his sleep at night. Andrew Huberman chimed in and agreed that straying from his longevity protocol is never worth it. Both agree that every consumed calorie has to fight for its life. There is a life/ longevity pun in here somewhere.
What happened next was remarkable:
Kim and her mother proceeded to outdo each other with professing that they hate alcohol and snacks.
But it wouldn’t be reality TV if the crew didn’t create a montage of them drinking and snacking to debunk those claims, instantly.
I have two questions after watching this segment:
Are we all going to lie that we don’t do fun stuff to impress people with how stringent we can be to live longer?
Is cutting out all vices that damage our various scores, the path to living forever?
You probably know my answer and here are some numbers to bolster my sentiment:
Social isolation increases the risk of premature death by 29%.
Loneliness raises the dementia risk in women by 58%.
Good partners (platonic/romantic) contribute to more estrogen and less cortisol.
2. Female Injuries and Tools for (P)rehab
If you follow female sports right now, you will notice:
How much more attention sports and female athletes are getting.
How many athletes have been sidelined with season ending injuries.
One reason I will never separate NARFs (non-athlete regular females) and high performance athletes, is that physiological differences have a profound impact on the longevity of athletes in their sport. So in that regard, they are “just like us”.
I have been both a high performer in sport and a high performer as a geriatric mom.
Recently, I went straight to the source, to a researcher who is looking into the role of biomechanics and the menstrual cycle on injuries. He asked me what sports career injuries were still plaguing me now? Too many…
I was muscularly over developed on my right side from fencing and that weakness on the left side, caused me to push my babies out “unevenly” during two deliveries. The result: a hernia, an atrophied psoas and combined 10 months of physical therapy. Ouch.
I asked him what the best tools for women are (see table below for impact):
Red light therapy.
Collagen.
Creatine (he even finally persuaded me to go on it - more on that next time).
